OUR STORY & PHILOSOPHY

Hello!

 

My name is Hasan, the founder of MIDST Art and Craft Studio. I am a ceramic artist who has experienced ceramic for 12 years. I started to work with clay by chance. I did my MA on 'Celadon Glazes' and my Ph.D. on 'Artistic Tableware'. I participated in many different competitions, symposiums and workshops etc. around the world.  Ceramic enlightened my world and directed me to extend my vision. I like to work experimentally and explore the limit of clay and glazes. I generally combine traditional and contemporary aesthetics together.  ​

 

Recently I have continued to work with new shapes of tableware. With a focus on creating unique & special items, I aspire to produce functional objects that are a pleasure to use in the home, to enrich & inspire everyday rituals such as having a coffee or serving dinner to your family.

My work explores the relationship between design & function. I take inspiration from the raw organic textures & shapes of the earth, combining this with hand painted patterns, fluid dribbling glazes & real gold accents.

Each piece is born on the pottery wheel, cast from a handmade mold or built carefully by hand. Glazes are mixed & applied by me in small batches, giving each item a unique & personal touch.
